For Mr. Gerein’s property on Balmoral Dr. St. Albert, we embarked on a significant roofing project prompted by dissatisfaction with a previous contractor’s work. The homeowner wanted a better initial installation and requested a complete overhaul of the roofing system. Understanding the critical need for a reliable and effective roofing solution, we were tasked with removing the existing SBS roofing system and starting anew.

The project commenced with carefully removing the old SBS membrane to prepare for a fresh installation. A new vapor barrier was installed as the foundational layer to ensure optimal moisture control and protect the integrity of the roofing system. Recognizing the importance of adequate water drainage, we implemented a 2% slope system. This addition was crucial for facilitating rainwater runoff and preventing standing water, a key consideration for maintaining the roof’s longevity.

To enhance the roof’s thermal efficiency, we installed two layers of 3-inch ISO (polyisocyanurate) insulation boards. This high-quality insulation material was selected for its superior thermal resistance, contributing to a more energy-efficient home. The renovation was completed by installing a new 2-ply roofing system known for its durability, waterproofing capabilities, and adaptability to varying weather conditions.

The project also included the addition of new metal capping, providing a finished look that complements the property’s aesthetic while enhancing the roof’s structural integrity. This comprehensive approach addressed the homeowner’s concerns with the previous installation and significantly upgraded the roofing system, ensuring it would provide reliable protection and performance for years to come.

Mr. Gerein’s project in St. Albert is a testament to the importance of selecting a knowledgeable, experienced roofing contractor committed to delivering quality workmanship and materials. Through this renovation, the property now boasts a robust, efficient, and visually appealing roofing system tailored to the homeowner’s needs and expectations.

Testimonial From Customer

“West Point Roofing recently replaced the flat roof on our house, including upgraded insulation, a slope package, parapet extension, and new sheet metal capping. Peter provided a very detailed written description of the work to be carried out in his quote. The roofing and sheet metal crews were great. They did great work and were very professional at all times. Communication was excellent and we were able to observe the work as it went along. The job was completed on time and on budget, with excellent attention to detail. We are very happy with the final result and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend West Point.”

Old Foam Roof System

Old Foam Roof System - Project Loesch Residence

2-Ply Roof System Completed

New 2-ply Roofing System - Project Loesch Residence

For a residential project on Grosvenor Blvd, St. Albert, we tackled an extensive roofing challenge attributed to a failed foam spray roofing system previously installed by another contractor who declined to conduct necessary repairs. In recent years, we’ve observed a trend toward opting for foam spray roofing due to its perceived affordability. However, this option often fails to deliver on flat roof systems. Notably, in commercial settings, the indiscriminate application of foam spray can lead to complications, covering essential elements such as AC units, cables, and electrical systems. This practice is similarly problematic on residential properties.

The removal of this foam product presented significant challenges, especially considering the extensive damage it inflicted on the underlying structure. Typically, properties with foam spray require substantial repairs, including replacing significant portions of the wood decking, curbs, and electrical components due to the damage and deterioration caused by the foam.

The residence on Grosvenor Blvd. was severely affected, suffering from widespread wood rot. Due to the necessity of the situation, extensive corrective measures were required. Our comprehensive approach to resolving these issues began with removing the deteriorated foam spray system. We then installed a new vapour barrier, providing a crucial moisture control layer to protect the roofing system.

This was followed by installing 2-inch ISO (polyisocyanurate) insulation boards chosen for their superior thermal performance and durability. New metal trim and curbs were installed to ensure the roofing system’s structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The renovation project concluded with the installation of a 2-ply SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) membrane roofing system. This system is renowned for its robustness, excellent waterproofing capabilities, and longevity, making it an ideal choice for residential roofing.

The comprehensive replacement addressed the significant issues the previous foam spray system posed. It provides the residents with a reliable, high-performance roofing solution that offers them long-term protection and peace of mind. This project underscores the critical importance of selecting a proven, effective roofing solution, particularly for residential applications where safeguarding the home is of utmost priority.

Testimonial From Customer

Residential low slope tar and gravel roof replacement in St AlbertDuring the busiest time of year for construction, we had trouble getting a roofing company to quote to replace our old tar and gravel roof.  Out of 10-12 contractors I had approached for quotes, West Point Roofing not only did a site inspection and quote in short order but had a very respectable quote. And obviously were the successful bidder. West Point further impressed us when they did our roof ahead of the estimated time they gave us. (We were experiencing some small roof leaks and West Point pushed up our install schedule by several weeks)

We found Peter Coscolin to be both knowledgable and professional and he helped us understand the process of putting on the new roof. The part that impressed us the most was the extensive inspection Peter did on the old roof and the very complete explanation of what had to be done which he described in great detail in his quote. Peter was thereafter the install to make sure any loose ends were taken care of promptly. This was a very costly upgrade to our home and we felt completely safe in letting West Point do the roof replacement. In this day and age of decreasing customer satisfaction and poor quality workmanship – This is a HAPPY STORY- and that means a lot! We are very happy with the end result and would definitely use this company again for our future roofing needs and would highly recommend them.
